FOUNDER'S STORY

The idea for Amouraa sparked during a quiet evening, after a string of exhausting conversations and disappointing connections on mainstream dating apps. It wasn’t about bad luck — it was about bad design. The founder realized that while there were dating apps out there, few truly prioritized safety, authenticity, and the unique rhythm of queer connection.

Conversations with friends in the LGBTQIA+ community revealed a pattern: fake profiles, ghosting, safety concerns, and a lack of meaningful options. Instead of waiting for someone else to solve the problem, the founder reached out to a small, tight-knit circle of queer coders — people who not only understood the tech, but also the unspoken nuances of queer dating.

“What started as a small rebellion against inauthentic digital spaces has grown into a movement — a safer, smarter, and more sincere way to meet people who truly get you.”

Amouraa became the first LGBTQIA+ dating app to offer a dedicated space for photo-verified profiles — a space designed to make authenticity the default, not the exception. Every photo-verified profile goes through a simple yet secure verification process to confirm the person behind the pictures is real. This feature isn't just a badge — it's a trust signal.

By separating verified profiles into their own section, Amouraa gives users the choice to browse and connect in a space where they can feel more confident and safe. No bots. No catfish. No more guessing who's on the other side of the screen. Just real people, showing up as themselves.

It’s about reclaiming time and emotional energy — knowing that when you start a conversation, there’s someone genuine on the other end. Verified profiles also reduce ghosting, since people who invest in showing up authentically are more likely to engage meaningfully.
